How accurate are the predictions?

Our prediction algorithm uses weighted trend analysis across 4 years of real DTE cutoff data (2022–2025). It applies year-over-year trend extrapolation and CAP round probability modeling. While no prediction can be 100% accurate, our Safe/Target/Reach classification system gives you a realistic range. "Safe" colleges have a very high probability, "Target" colleges are realistic, and "Reach" colleges are possible but less likely.

Where does the cutoff data come from?

This is real, verified government data — not estimated or simulated.

No. GetCAP works without any signup. You can use the predictor, browse colleges, build option forms, talk to the AI counselor, and access every tool without registering. We never ask for your personal information to use core features.

How do I use the College Predictor?

Simply go to the Predictor page, enter your MHT-CET rank (or percentile), select your category, gender, quota type (Maharashtra State or All India), and optionally filter by district and branch. Click "Predict My Colleges" and you'll get a personalized list of colleges classified as Safe, Target, or Reach with CAP round probabilities.

What do Safe, Target, and Reach mean?

Safe colleges are those where your rank is significantly better than the expected cutoff (5000+ rank buffer). Target colleges are realistic options where your rank is close to the expected cutoff (within 5000 ranks). Reach colleges are aspirational choices where your rank may be below the expected cutoff but could still be possible in later CAP rounds.

Can I predict by percentile instead of rank?

Yes. GetCAP has a built-in percentile-to-rank converter. Enter your MHT-CET percentile (e.g. 95.5) and we'll convert it to an approximate rank using the formula: Rank ≈ (100 − Percentile) × Total Students ÷ 100. With approximately 120,000 students appearing for MHT-CET, a 95th percentile roughly corresponds to a rank of 6,000. You can then use this rank for all predictions.

Can I predict through JEE Mains score?

Yes, indirectly. Some seats in Maharashtra engineering colleges are reserved for JEE Main-qualified candidates under the All India Quota (15% of total seats). To predict your chances through JEE Mains, select the "All India" quota in the predictor and enter your JEE Main rank. The cutoffs for AI quota are typically higher (i.e. worse rank required) than Maharashtra State quota for the same college.

Why are some colleges not showing in my results?

Colleges may not appear if: (1) your rank is too far above their cutoff (not even in Reach), (2) the college doesn't offer branches in your selected filter, (3) the college doesn't have cutoff data for your selected category and round combination, or (4) results are capped at 150 to keep the page manageable.
